Company Overview

Greenergy was founded as a bedroom start-up in 1992 to supply fuels and energy with a reduced environmental impact. We have grown rapidly year on year, repeatedly ranking amongst the fastest growing privately owned companies in the UK.

We are now the UK's largest independent oil company and one of its top three fuel suppliers with over 15% share of the UK road fuel market.

Greenergy is owned primarily by the Directors, with minority shareholdings by Barclays Natural Resource Investments and Tesco in the parent company Greenergy International.

We produced over 6 billion litres of fuel in the UK during the year ending March 09 and current sales average nearly 120 million litres of fuel every week. All the road fuels we sell in the UK are blended with biofuel.

Our products include;

  • main grade petrol, diesel, gasoil kerosene and fuel oil;
  • high percentage biodiesel blends to cut greenhouse gas emissions; and
  • performance fuels including Tesco 99 Octane.

Our customers include the major oil companies and supermarkets (diesel and petrol for retail sale), bus and logistics companies and train operators (fleet use).

We have ISO 9001:2008 certification for the provision of operations relating to the supply and processing of liquid fuel products.

We are the largest and most experienced supplier of biofuel in the UK and have supplied more than a third of all the biofuel sold in the UK since 2005.  We lead industry discussions on biofuel quality.

We source sustainably produced bioethanol and biodiesel worldwide and also operate a 200,000 tonne biodiesel facility at Immingham on the east coast of England, making us both a UK producer and importer of biofuel.

Our world class biofuel blending operations in Rotterdam and the UK allow us to create biofuel products meeting customer-specific quality and sustainability requirements.
