I don't buy into all the V-Power marketing hype either, and you're paying extra for the name, just like everything else in life, which is why I use Tesco 99 RON. (Pistonheads.com 18/03/2008) Tesco 99 is cheaper than BP Ultimate and the TVR loves it... extra pops and bangs on the over run :-). (Pistonheads.com 31/05/2008) I use Tesco 99 all the time, although I was tempted to try BP Ultimate 102 on the way home the other day, although I think it's REALLY expensive. (astraownersnetwork 29/02/2008) Tesco 99 all the way. I put it my UK300 PPP Subaru and it seems great on it. Cheaper, higher octane, more mpg. Thank you Tesco. (Scooby.net www.scoobynet.com 29/07/06) I read this (Thorney Fuel Test Report) a few weeks ago and based on the article decided to try Tesco's 99 Octane as I'd started using a new contract and was filling up every few days. To me the Tesco 99 Octane seemed the same as V Power (which I used religiously) but for less cash. It pulled the same, felt the same and returned similar mpg. I'd never have thought of trying it so thanks for the top tip. (VXR Online www.vxronline.co.uk 27/12/07) Remember it's not Tesco that make the fuel, they just sell the stuff, its made by a company who specialise in fuel blending for (amongst other people) race teams. As far as I'm concerned I'm buying decent fuel that just happens to be cheap from a supermarket not the other way around. (BM3W.co.uk 26/07/07) Fuel wise I use Tesco 99 and found it works very well in both our Astra & Corsa VXR's, not a fan of BP, power feels a little flat, V-power feels exactly the same in both cars compared with the T99 but 99 being that bit cheaper wins me over. Performance I have been using Tesco 99 Super Unleaded in my standard 1.8 SRi estate for some time now and I find it gives my car more pull and smoother acceleration. I've found that Tesco performs better than Shell. (astraownersnetwork 31/01/2008) Tesco 99 RON and V-Power are the ones to go for. If there is no Tesco 99 which is my first choice then V-Power will do nicely although a bit more expensive. (pistonheads 17/03/2008) I go through 2 tanks a week and Tesco 99 seems to be the best. The car pulls like a train and seems much happier with T99 then any other type of fuel. (www.vxronline.co.uk 03/01/2008) I only use Tesco 99 or Shell V Power. I believe with a higher rating fuel it will burn more efficiently, less wear and tear on engine and possibility of more mpg. (Scoobynet.com 22/02/2008) However she (my car) does like Tesco 99 as I do feel a difference with that one... and I get a few more MPG too. (Scoobynet.com 22/02/2008) Tesco 99 Octane is excellent. It's really sorted out problems we had with our turbo petrol car which was sluggish before using this. (Phil, Poole 16/11/2007) Have been using T99 since I got my VXR. Almost 1k on the clock now and it purrs very nicely. Power is always there when you want it and the computer says I am getting around 30mpg. I do a mix of short runs to work and some higher speed motorway runs. So for my 2 pence worth I would recommend Tesco 99 Octane. (www.vxronline.co.uk 6/12/2007) T99, everytime, got to get the Clubcard points!! (www.vxronline.co.uk 17/09/2007) Tried Tesco 99 and felt an improvement over shell. Used Tesco 99 ever since, but put a tank of shell in the other and didn't feel as good so sticking with Tesco. (www.scoobynet.com 30/06/2007) T99 for me all the way. Consistency is the key, never have any flat spots with it and I honestly feel the car is quicker but you HAVE to give it 2 tanks and let the ECU adapt, followed by driving it HARD at some point in order allow the ECU to work with the fuel when it is being driven to its maximum. (VXR Online www.vxroline.co.uk 29/7/07) I've noticed the mpg increase on Tesco 99 RON!!! Car feels much smoother with that. (Astra Owners Network 09/05/2008) |
