Traceability across the supply chain
Renewable fuels including biofuels play an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
At Greenergy, sustainability is embedded throughout our biofuel supply chain, from feedstock sourcing to manufacturing, blending and delivery to maximise the benefits from sourcing and production.
We are committed to supplying renewable fuels that maximise carbon savings, protect biodiversity and provide full traceability through independently verified supply chains. By prioritising waste-based feedstocks in our own production and maintaining rigorous sustainability standards, we help customers reduce transport emissions and support the energy transition.
Our priorities
Our approach to biofuel sustainability is built around the below principles:
Maximising carbon savings
We continually prioritise lower-carbon biofuels that deliver meaningful greenhouse gas emissions reductions across their full lifecycle.
We work with suppliers around the world to identify feedstocks and production pathways that maximise emissions reductions while maintaining reliable supply.
Protecting land and biodiversity
Sustainable biofuels must not come at the expense of forests, habitats or biodiversity.
We obtain verifiable evidence for the origin and sustainability of every litre of biofuel we supply, demonstrating compliance with recognised sustainability requirements, including the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II). These requirements help ensure that feedstocks are not sourced from recently deforested land or other protected areas.
Prioritising waste-based feedstocks
Waste-derived biofuels typically deliver higher carbon savings while avoiding many of the land-use impacts associated with crop-based feedstocks.
Greenergy has invested in manufacturing capability and global sourcing networks that enable us to maximise the use of waste oils and fats, including used cooking oil. Working with suppliers across multiple regions, we maintain traceability back through the supply chain to verify that waste-derived feedstocks are genuine and responsibly sourced.
Creating transparent supply chains
Traceability is fundamental to sustainable biofuels.
Greenergy has been helping shape biofuel sustainability and traceability standards for almost two decades, working with governments, regulators, industry bodies and supply chain partners to strengthen assurance across the sector.
Every biofuel purchase and transfer follows recognised sustainability certification requirements, supported by robust internal controls and independent auditing. We conduct regular audits throughout our supply chain to provide confidence that our sustainability standards are consistently met.
Continuous improvement
Biofuel sustainability continues to evolve as technologies, regulations and supply chains develop.
We continue to invest in lower-carbon feedstocks, strengthen supply chain transparency and work with industry partners to improve sustainability standards across the renewable fuels sector. Through ongoing innovation and rigorous governance, we aim to support the transition to lower-carbon transport while maintaining secure and responsible fuel supply.
