Biodiesel production in Amsterdam
Greenergy operates a biodiesel production plant in the Port of Amsterdam, one of Europe's largest seaports and a major energy and logistics hubs. The plant manufactures biodiesel from waste oils, for use in road and marine transport fuels, displacing diesel and thereby reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared with 100% conventional fossil diesel.

Located in the Port of Amsterdam, the plant benefits from access to marine, road and inland waterway transport networks, ensuring efficient delivery and distribution of feedstocks and finished products.
About the plant
The Amsterdam biodiesel manufacturing facility was built in 2010 to process virgin vegetable oils but was never commissioned. Greenergy acquired the Amsterdam biodiesel plant in 2018, and undertook conversion works to allow processing of waste oils. More recently, Greenergy completed an expansion programme in 2024, increasing the plant's production capacity.
The expansion also broadened the range of waste oils that can be processed, increasing operational flexibility and enabling the plant to respond to changing feedstock availability and customer requirements.
